Apparently my role on this blog is to keep you all posted on what I find fascinating in the Catholic world. Today is no different. :) Did you know that Newt Gringrich became Catholic at the Easter Vigil Mass this Saturday at St. Joseph's in Washington, DC? It's true! Click here to read the story. An interesting side note, my best friend Amy received her sacraments at St. Joseph's in April of 2006. Cool, eh? Also, for those of you that were with us at the March for Life in 2008, we went to Sunday Mass there. With that out of the way, I have been looking for more articles about this and have course come across a lot of tacky blogs about his conversion. People are chastising him for his two divorces and that jazz, but isn't that the beauty of being a Christian? Christ forgives the contrite heart. And praise the Lord he does or we would all be scourged in the fires of hell. For the record, I commend Newt Gringrich for taking a step closer to Christ through the sacraments. We could always use another hard core Catholic in Washington, even if he isn't technically work on the hill.
