Word on the streets in Rome has it that three potential U.S. Ambassadors to the Vatican have been rejected by Pope Benedict. There wasn't a formal submission or rejection of names, but the names that were mentioned were dismissed based on their stance on life issues.

Now, I'm not a government guru, however I think it wouldn't be too difficult to find one person in Washington that sides with the Church in relations to life issues.  Seriously.  Heck, they can send me!

These small and repetitive actions by Obama and his cohorts goes back to what I have said to a few of my friends. Barak Obama is an educated man who knows the basic teachings of the Catholic Church. He understands that he does not side with the Church and he recognizes that Catholics don't agree with his views on life issues,  but he looks the Church right in the eyes and spits in her face. He says, "Well yes, I recognize that this is very important to you, but I am going to do whatever I want, Church."

And Obama is doing the same thing in this case. He isn't meeting the simple requirement. He hears what the Vatican says, but ignores it and tries to push his own agenda.

How hard is this to follow? "The Holy See has always set a very simple standard: the person should not be in opposition to fundamental teachings of the Church that belong to our common shared humanity. He or she may not believe in Catholic dogma if he or she is not a Catholic, but we could not accept someone who is in favor of abortion, or (human) cloning or same-sex unions equated to marriage."

I would actually pick you Tony as my speech writer. smilies/smiley.gif And I suppose for the sake of national security, you can work directly with Jennifer Garner. The world is depending on you.

Cool! I call dibs on presidential speechwriter. And special liaison to Jennifer Garner. Um...for national security issues, of course. She kicked butt on "Alias" and would be an asset to protecting this country. That sounds reasonable, right?

Maybe ambassador should be my first political endeavor, then on to President in 2012. smilies/wink.gif

I agree with you Tony. This whole thing is about par for the Obama group. And just the mention of Pelosi makes my skin crawl! You know, I always see her standing front in center for photos that regard life issues. And I thought a meeting with the Pope would knock some sense into her. Apparently not!

And as an FYI, the three of you will have top leadership positions in my campaign!

Abby, you have a wonderful voice, I would vote to send to as the US ambassador. It would be ridiculous to think that Obama could change the Catholic church's views on life. :S

You make an awesome point, Abs! Even though all of those Libs would try to tear down every point you just made, there is no excuse for as to why such a disgrace has to go on in our Country...no matter what religion or beliefs. It makes me sick to my stomach to just see Obama rip apart human life with the snap of his finger. :x

I'm with Tony, Abby for Prez! smilies/cheesy.gif

love you girl

I think this means the Caperton for President campaign has officially kicked off! Unless you want to be ambassador first.

It would seem the height of hubris for the Obama administration to think that they will change the Pope's mind on abortion and other issues by naming an ambassador who would espouse those views and exert a gradual influence. Not that I put it past them or esteemed theologian Nancy Pelosi to think they could. But if it's true, it certainly doesn't seem like the kind of healing political move we were all promised.
